Yoji Masuda
Yoji Masuda was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He frequently visited Japan with his family when he was growing up. One time when they went to a sushi restaurant in Tokyo, he sat in the counter staring at the chef making his sushi right in front of him, he thought it was so delicious and was inspired. After that he knew what he wanted to do. Be a sushi chef.
He started his culinary experience working in a local Japanese restaurant in Vancouver in his late teens, he then decided to move to Sapporo, Hokkaido to be with his family and worked at a local restaurant near Odori Park.
After a year he decided to make the move to Tokyo, Ginza and apprentice under his master, training in sushi everyday.
With over 13+ years working with sushi now, Masuda is making a return back to his hometown in Vancouver, BC to share his passion with sushi in his 1st restaurant.
